MELVYN & SUSAN DURSCHLAG

Caliber 33 "Class Act" Chagrin

Falls, Ohio

Susan and Melvyn have been sailing for 15 and 20 years, respectively. They generally sail Lake Erie, heading to the many interesting ports that are a short

hop from Cleveland. Including the longer trips they have taken up Lake Huron, they have chalked up some 1,200 nautical miles on their Caliber.

Great Lakes Sailing

"Suffice it to say that more than several crossings of Lake Huron in 8-to-10-foot waves, on two occasions on the beam, a tornadic sudden thunderstorm on the Saginaw Bay with wind gusts in excess of 60 knots, and a 60-mile beat crossing of Lake Erie from London Bay, Ontario to Cleveland in 25-knot winds, has led us to appreciate the strength our Caliber 33. Indeed last summer we were crossing Lake Huron in 20-plus knot north/northwest winds under reefed sails. On several occasions, Susan commented how safe and confident she always feels onboard our Caliber 33." --Melvyn
